Stockholm International Film Festival 2025

Every November, the Stockholm International Film Festival gathers film lovers from around the world for twelve days of cinematic exploration. Each year, the festival introduces a new and distinctive visual identity inspired by its central theme.

This year’s edition pays tribute to David Lynch, the filmmaker whose films profoundly shaped modern cinema. When the festival premiered in 1990, Lynch was its honorary guest, and his film ”Wild at Heart” opened the very first edition. Drawing from this legacy, we created a visual world that resonates with his universe without being too explicit. The concept explores the ideas of repetition, rhythm, and distortion – central elements in Lynch’s cinematic language. It evokes a sense of dream logic and surreal momentum, where images loop and mutate, which evolves into something both hypnotic and uncanny.

The resulting identity is dynamic, rhythmic, and slightly disorienting — a visual dreamscape of recurring frames, layered elements, and suggestive patterns that seem to evolve endlessly. While red has always been the festival’s defining color, this year we pushed it to its most vivid and luminous shade — a beacon cutting through the darkness of November, and a tribute to the emotional intensity of cinema itself.
